Getting started with Project Cortex and SharePoint Syntex: webinar follow-up

Recently we held a webinar about getting started with Project Cortex and SharePoint Syntex. Check out the recording:

We received great questions — thanks to everyone who contributed! Here are the answers to a few of the top questions:

What are Content Centers used for?

  • Content Centres are new types of sites that host your processing Models

  • You can have one or many Content Centres

  • Plan your content centre for security and access — the same as you would with your SharePoint sites

What types of content are the models designed for?

  • Document processing models are used for unstructured documents such as Statements of Work or Contracts

  • Form processing models (using AI Builder) are used for structured and semi-structured documents such as Invoices

Can I have multiple models running on a document library?

  • Document processing models can be used on multiple libraries

  • Form processing models are built for one specific library

Where do you recommend saving documents – in the Content Center or team site?

  • We recommend continuing to store your documents in Team Sites with proper structured document libraries

  • Use Content Centres to build and manage models

Can we apply records management with Syntex?

  • Documents can have retention labels automatically applied when classified through a Document Processing model

  • Retention labels will get you one step closer to managing records!

What process do you recommend following to get started with Syntex?

We recommend starting out with understanding the technology, planning business use cases, then following a pilot model for rollout. Here’s a diagram that summarizes our process for full organization-wide deployment of SharePoint Syntex:
