Webinar: Understanding the Microsoft Office 365 Audit Logs

Understanding the Microsoft Office 365 Audit Logs

Microsoft 365 (previously Office 365) has come a long way in providing a consolidated and detailed audit log of nearly everything that happens in Microsoft 365.

You can see who last viewed items, where items are stored and who deleted items. Seeing activities like this is important in legal scenarios and staying compliant with regulations such as GDPR or HIPAA.

However, Microsoft understandably does not keep those cloud logs for long, and it depends on your license. In this talk, we’ll share the gaps with Microsoft 365 audit logs. We will also discuss reports that improve the usefulness of the logs and how to use the audit data with your compliance workflows, such as placing a legal hold.

Takeaways include:

  • What’s included in the Microsoft 365 audit trail logs

  • What’s missing in the logs for compliance requirements

  • How to save logs locally so that you decide what’s kept, and for how long

  • How to anonymize audit data for compliance
